The heat is caused by the friction that is built up from the tire flexing more than it was design too, including a side to side movement that should not happen. The longer the tire runs this way, the more permanent damage is caused. The tire can easily blowout, and in the case of recaps... Well we all know what happens to recaps. The universal Transceiver is an amplifier to make sure the monitor receives an accurate signal from the Sensors. How to Choose a TireStat™ Tire Pressure MonitorsThe best way to determine which TireStat™ Monitor is right for your vehicle, is as follows: First determine how many wheels your vehicle has. (The photo should say TireStat™ # (# is Total number of Tires) Choose the number of vehicles (if applicable). This will be 1 if there is no Trailer. 2, if there is a Trailer. (The photo should say "Vehicle A" or both "Vehicle A" and "Vehicle B") Finally, choose the picture that matches your tire configuration layout. Pay attention to the number of axles & tires per axle.
Note: There are several Monitors with the same number of tires. They will all work on all vehicles with that number of tires, but the drawing that shows the layout of your wheels (on the Monitor) will be different, so make sure you match up the right drawing for your vehicle. I have tried to make it a no brainer by including the drawings by the "Add to Cart" buttons below. I also added a "Quick Guide Comparison Chart", with "Buy Now" buttons right next to the diagram to help insure you purchase the right system for your vehicle. As an added check, I recommend looking at the product ID that is at the end of the Description line, in the shopping cart.
